Domain strategy

Tthere are two approaches to handling the domain during the transition: keeping your current domain or changing to a new one. VaultMe supports both scenarios.

Domains have to be managed through your domain service provider. VaultMe will not transfer the domain or domain settings.

Keep the domain

If you choose to keep your existing domain, you can create a temporary secondary domain in your destination Google Workspace and use it as destination because Google Workspace does not allow the same primary domain to exist in two different tenants at the same time. You can use an existing secondary domain that you own or purchase a new secondarydomain from Google when setting up your destination Google Workspace account.

After you've migrated the user data, you need to unlink your domain from the source Google Workspace account, verify its ownership in the desination Google Workspace account, and replace the temporary domain with the primary one.

VaultMe does not provide support for domain management. If you need help transferring the domain, consider reaching out to Microsoft's support team.

After you've migrated user data and replaced the secondary domain with the primary one, you need to update the MX records in your domain registrar so that the email flows through the new accounts.

Change the domain

If you’re rebranding or consolidating, you can migrate users from user@old-domain.com to user@new-domain.com. VaultMe supports mapping from one address to another.

If you choose to change the domain, you can purchase it through your preferred provider. The domain must be purchased before you set up a migration.
