Sync-up (delta) migrations
After the initial migration is complete, administrators can run sync-ups (also known as delta migrations) to copy any new or recently changed data. This feature helps ensure that the destination accounts remain up to date during the transition period.
How a sync-up migration works
During a sync-up migration:
- If new items are added, VaultMe for Admins will create copies of these items in the destination.
- If items are removed from the source, VaultMe for Admins will not remove copies that have already been created from the destination.
- If items are updated (changed), VaultMe for Admins will delete the previous copies from the destination and will add new versions of the items.
- If items are moved to a different location, VaultMe for Admins will create additional copies of these items in the new locations in the destination. For this reason, users should not modify the folder structures during the migration.
VaultMe for Admins will update the migration report(s) with the synced items and will not generate separate reports for sync-up migrations.
Sync-up migration limitations
Administrators can perform multiple syncs free of charge within 30 days of the migration start date. Accounts must remain connected and credentials must not change for the migration to work.
The feature currently has the following limitations:
- The sync-up feature is designed to capture minor updates only, not to run full migrations.
- If migrations are run in multiple batches at different times, each batch has its own 30-day sync window, counted from the start date of that batch. Administrators must keep track of these timelines to ensure that all follow-up sync-ups are completed before the deadline.
- All accounts within a batch are synchronized simultaneously.
- If multiple data types are included in the migration, all data types are synchronized simultaneously.
