Storage quotas in Microsoft 365
Before starting a migration with VaultMe for Admins, it’s important to review the size of each source account and ensure that each corresponding Microsoft 365 destination account has enough available storage. To do so, as an administrator, check each user's account size in the source and compare it with the destination accounts' configurations.
Microsoft 365 imposes specific storage limits depending on the license type:
- Outlook: typically 50 GB.
- OneDrive: usually 1 TB per user, with the option to increase for enterprise licenses.
If the source account exceeds these limits, the migration cannot complete successfully until additional storage is allocated.
Because storage capacity is tied to the Microsoft 365 license, it’s best to confirm and adjust licensing before starting the migration.
For Outlook accounts that require 100 GB of free storage, Microsoft 365 E3/E5 licenses may need to be purchased.
