Rollout approach
There are two main approaches to rolling out a migration with VaultMe for Admins:
- Cutover migration. In a cutover migration, all user accounts are migrated at once.
- Staged migration. In a staged migration, accounts are migrated in groups over time. This allows testing the accounts' performance before migrating the entire organization and minimizes disruption to work processes.
Both approaches use the same item-by-item migration process, so the right choice depends only on your organization’s size, timeline, and readiness:
- Cutover migrations are ideal for smaller organizations (20 or fewer users).
- For middle to large organizations (50+ accounts), the best practice is to migrate content in smaller batches over 2-3 weeks. This helps reduce the load on the source and destination accounts and improves the migration speed. For more information on factors that affect the migration speed, see Migration duration.
In both scenarios, VaultMe for Admins allows unlimited syncs within 30 days of the initial migration date. This ensures that any new or changed content is automatically included before the final cutover. For more information about sync-up migrations, see Sync-up (delta) migrations.
